Why we are building SolaStage
This started with my sister. Sola is a Nigerian-American artist, and for years I watched her do the thing every independent artist does. Make the music, put it out, and then run the whole business of being found, on platforms that keep the audience for themselves. She had the songs and she had the fans. What she did not have was a home that was hers.
The math does not work
Streaming pays about a third of a cent per play. To get past that you have to reach your fans directly, and to do that you need a place you actually own. Today that means gluing together a website builder, a fan texting app, an email tool, and a link in a bio. That is about $50 to $70 a month, and you still build all of it yourself, at night, after the day job.
One place, built for you
SolaStage is one place that does all of it, and the building is done for you. Pick a look, drop in your songs and shows, and your real website is built and published in minutes, with a fan email and text list built in. You own the list. You can export it and leave anytime.
We started building this on Sola's birthday, with her as our first artist. We are doing it in the open, and we will keep posting what we ship here. If this is the home you have been missing, join the waitlist and we will tell you the moment it is your turn.
